History of the Name of your Community

Challenge: How did your community get it’s name? Did you ever wonder how your community or street where you live got it’s name? Investigate this and write up your conclusions. If possible include some photographs or drawings.

How do I do this: Either write up the information you have found or draw a picture that shows what you have discovered about your community name. Keep this information safe so that you can add this to the information you are keeping.

Suggested places to find this information: Speak to older members of your family or local neighbours in the community. Use online resources and books to find out more. Go to your local library, do they have any old newspapers online or on microfilm that could hold answers to your questions?

Present what you have found either drawn or written.
